You can get rid of the fractions by multiplying each term by the common denominator of 12.

21z - 8 = 30z + 48
-9z = 56
z = -56/9 = - 6 2/9

=7z/4 - 2/3 =5z/2 + 4 Multiplying all the terms of the eqn. by 12.we get 21z- 8= 30z+48 => 21z- 30z= 48+8 => -9z=56 =>z=56/- 9=- 6 2/9 (minus six whole number two upon nine)
