I had positive pregnancy tests and then negative ones at the docs. I'm now waiting on the results of a blood test. Is it possible to miscarry and not know and still have really bad nausea and feel pregnant? If so, how long would it be before you took your period. My doc won't send me for a scan unless the blood test comes back positive. It's 10 weeks since my last period. I'm concerned that there is something else really wrong with me if It's neg. This is the first month my husband and I started trying for a baby and I've never missed a period before. I'm 25 and he's 27.

Sweetheart I am SO sorry! This must be so upsetting for you, I can only imagine.
Okay, this is what you need to know. What IS possible is that for some reason the baby has stopped developing. In other words, the pregnancy is no longer viable. That can happen for a number of reasons. Usually when the baby just stops developing like that it means that there was something of major import, not right with the fetus. The number of things that could have gone wrong, the number of things that could be wrong are just too many to imagine. Most of all know that it is NOT anything that you did or did not do. When it happens this early in the pregnancy it is not anyones fault.
If for some reason the blood test is positive the doctor will go ahead and do an ultrasound. I am not sure but I think that it is possible that an ectopic pregnancy might cause a negative pregnancy test, I am just not sure.
The doctor is the best source of information for you at this point. Make a list of all the things that you want to ask him and keep it nearby. That way you will not forget and be mad at yourself for not asking!
I do know that the urine tests CAN be negative when there is a normal pregnancy. I have heard of this happening. I will pray that is the case for you. If the blood test is positive, hope for the best and wait and see what the ultra sound shows! Maybe all will be well.
BTW, in answer to your question, it IS possible for the baby to just stop developing and you would not know it. Miscarriage happens with a lot of PAIN and lots of bleeding, believe me, a thing like that could not happen without you knowing it!
Keep hoping that it was just a fluke that the urine test was negative. They are not always right and this early in your pregnancy, a blood test is the best way to know for sure. If the blood test is positive, be happy!
If you find a moment please let me know what happens. I will be thinking of you and I do care.
Blessings to you honey.
Lady T~

Well if you are pregnant and you tested positive it could be possible that you testing neg because you might be miscarrying the doc taking the blood test is the first step to know HCG level I think is what they call it because miscarrying you have the HCG level but it lower than the actual level if it was a healthy pregnancy. You could still be having signs of pregnancy to while miscarrying, but depending on where you at in the miscarriage if there is one you could be experiencing bad cramping as well. GOOD LUCK though

In may of 2005 i had my period and it was normal. 4 days later i started to bleed again but not heavy and the color of it was brown-lightred-red-back to brown. I hurt so badly in my back and belly & was tired.
I had never done this before and my mom and my husband both had me believing i was having 2 periods in one month. Well this went on for 6 days and finally i went to the ER and they done a blood test on me (I did not think i was pregnant) and it came back positive.

They done an ultrasound on me but it was too late i had already miscarried. I was 5 weeks so when i think about it when i was having my period it was proably taken place then and finished when i started again.

My husband and i were not trying to get pregnant and that was the last thing on my mind that is why i didn't think of a miscarriage. I just thought it was a second period. I should have known though, wish i would have known.

I have a 5 year old son and im 27 years old but i would have never known i was pregnant or even miscarried had i not went to the ER cause the very next day (after i was let out of the hospital) i wasn't bleeding or hurting.

I got my period back the very next month in june when it was due so you see i would have never known.

You will know if you are or were pregnant by the blood test results and if you did miscarry it can show up on a home test up to 8 weeks after miscarrying (A positive)....

My HPT was positive, but the urine test at my doctor's was negative. Huh? Urine-based pregnancy tests vary widely in sensitivity. Often a home-based test (HPT) is much more sensitive than the kind your doctor's office uses. (Often doctors or clinics use tests that are sensitive to 50-100 mIU/mL of hCG; most home tests detect a level of 15-50 mIU/mL of hCG. See the HPT Overview for various HPT sensitivities.)

Practically speaking, this usually works just fine. By the time a woman suspects pregnancy and confirms with her doctor, she has usually missed her period, is farther along in her pregnancy, and has higher levels of hCG in her urine-- so a less-sensitive test will suffice. On the other hand, women who are trying to conceive and/or monitor their fertility are often much more in tune with their cycles and the potential for pregnancy, and therefore test earlier with more sensitive tests. So this scenario is actually fairly common. Because HPT's are extremely reliable, you should consider yourself pregnant following a positive test. Your doctor should retest your urine again in a few days, after your hCG has had time to increase.

It seems such as you're having a frustrating time swallowing this female's tale. it is bodily achievable however the lady might have oftentimes happening she replaced into having a miscarriage if she have been 8 wks alongside. There could have been fairly some bleeding, cramping and clots coming away. i do no longer think of it may be consumer-friendly to omit the signs and warning signs. genuinely nonetheless a woman can fall pregnant interior some weeks of miscarrying...all interior the gap of a month. have confidence your intestine emotions to no count if she is telling the actuality or no longer.

Well first of all STOP WORRYING!! That a cause of miscarrying. and you should have symptoms that something is wrong. Things like bleeding/spotting,swelling of your hands and feet, really bad headaches, excessive vomitting, alot of discharge from the vagina or water coming from the vagina, and if you don't feel the baby moving (depending on the stage of your pregnancy) are some of the things to look for. But on the other hand some people don't have a clue until they take some tests(especially early in the pregnancy). Good luck to you and your husband.

Yes, especially early. Take the First Response test, it's very sensitive. You might just have to wait to see. A scan wouldn't show much this early...

Yes it is possible to have had a miscarriage and not know. You may also have a miscarriage and not even know that you were pregnant. Some women who have late periods are sometimes pregnant and miscarry thinking they just had a change in their menstrual cycle.

it is possible that your pregnancy has ended, but that the matter is still in your uterus. i hate to put it that way. if you don't get a period soon, and your doc refuses to send you for a scan, you may need to get one and pay for it out of pocket, because there may be something else going on. certain types of cysts can cause that. maybe evena molar pregnancy. i hope everything turns out allright though.
