Do I need a license to be a make-up artist in Texas? I would be doing freelance work on my own, not in salons.

I want to start my own little business doing bridal make-up and proms. I eventually want to be able to go along with the client to their function and make sure thier make-up looks fresh the whole night. Will I need to have a license to give out business cards, or advertise?

If you are going to charge for a service you at least need a business license.
Check with your state licensing bureau for regulations, most likely you will need a cosmetologists license too.
