Clearing history in Tools doesn't remove the ones stored on the webpage.
If autocomplete is all the things you've searched for, you need to double click in the search window on their website and a list will appear in a drop down window.
Position your cursor over the first at the start of the word and hold down delete on your keyboard. They should then all start to delete.
You will have to do it several times for different websites. Deleting the ones on Yahoo doesn't remove the ones on Google etc.
