In London it would be David Beckham. He was the captain of our national footie team and Michael Jordan is just a basketball player from America to anybody who actually knows who he is at all. Beckham has the sort of fame here that makes most people want to either shake his hand or throw cabbages at him. Jordan doesn't have anything like that level of recognizability.

David Beckham, everyone in London knows who he is and would recognise him instantly. He is in the papers almost everyday wth his wife victoria, Michael Jordon would only be recognised by people who follow Basketball, and in the UK that is a small number compared to those who follow football.
