Is there a certian time limit or just when ever you feel comfortble ?

According to official NBA rules, "Each free throw attempt shall be made within 10 seconds after the ball has been placed at the disposal of the free thrower."
I have never seen a penalty called for violation of this rule, but I have seen referees make a motion to a player to take the shot.

You are supposed to shoot within 10 seconds but they never enforce that rule.

u can take ur time...but it is up to the refs decision to call u for stalling....must be about 30 seconds...after that ur just a douche
