What they are attempting to do it realign the vertebra. There are no gas pockets between joints, only bursa filled with sonovial fluid, or cartiligous disks like between the vertebra. Unfortunately, the problem is that unless the muscles are address, the spine tends to slip back into the position it was in before they began. Some people claim to get a lot of relief from seeing them. Unfortunately, they tend to need to go back for treatments over and over again, for years. Often seeing an osteopath won't be covered by a person health insurance. $$$$

Its just like when you crack your knuckles, little pockets of fluid making a noise. I don't think it achieves anything, Osteopaths are good though!!

to relieve air pockets and to cause you pain and discomfort for a short while before causing you more discomfort by charging so much

when your joints pop, they release a gasseos type thing and it relieves your joints. the only thing is, it makes your joints swell up little by little
