I tried to delete/uninstall a few windows components yesterday, such as Windows Messenger and IE 6, and now I have this ANNOYING AS HELL popup thing saying it's secrching through somehting like "My sonic dvd." I dont even care about deleting the other stuff anymore, I'd just like the popup to stop occouring.

If it helps, I have a HP Media Center Edition PC with XP as an OS.

All or any help is appreciated, because I'd hate to take this to those money-hungry IT people. <3

The popup happened again, and first it says it's looking though HP Digital Media, then it has a load bar, fills that up, and then I get a window about "My Sonic DVD Plus."

The message is as follows:
"the resource that you're trying to use is on a network that is unavailable.

click ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'MyDVD.msi' in the box below"

It's a popup from the SYSTEM.

Window's components can not be deleted! As you've discovered attempting to do so messes things up.
If your computer will boot up do a "System Restore" to before you attempted to delete.
If it doesn't boot then try starting in "Safe Mode" and then do the "Restore", again to a point before the attempted delete. This should fix it!
The above procedures vary a little depending on your computer. If your not familiar with them contact any phone Tech Support to guide you thru it.
Good luck!

i could be wrong, but sonic is one of those freebie programs that come with a computer to play dvd cd and other media. perhaps you could just uninstall sonic and download another free player. or in the start menu, click run then type msconfig, then click the startup tab, and uncheck the sonic program there. this will keep sonic from running at startup. if it is not there. google a program called "hyjack this", download it, click scan and try and find the sonic program listed there and check it, then click fix checked. this keep it from running at startup. do not check anything you don't know what it is as you can really screw up your system if you delete a critical program. sonic is not critical
