All children at some age will go through a scratching and a biting stage. Since the baby can't talk she may use kitten like biting to get your attention. She should eventually quit but its not something to be ignored. You should tell her no when she scratches and bites, but unless you are one of the parents that do not believe in discipline your child, I would even say to slap her on the hand or on the mouth. Nothing hard just enough to make a slight sting. If this persists though, I would as her pediatrician about it. I hope you can find a way to end this. Good Luck!

If her behaviour is always really difficult to manage to the point where you have lost control, you might want to have her checked by a specialist to ensure that there is no underlying problem. If she checks out clear, it's discipline time. Use shut out time ie put her in another room or stand her in a corner. For attention-seeking kids, this is much better than smacking. You will need the support of everyone in the household and you will have to enforce your will. When she does as you have asked, give her the reward of your attention and approval. Make it clear that she and her older sister are equals and that she can't manipulate that.
Good luck and be firm. Remember, your first social duty to your child is to ensure that she is accepted by her peers.

This has to be a wind up!
If not, then use a bit of common sense and take the kid to a doctor coz she has some serious issues which need sorting out.

is she scrathing herself or others. Cut her finger nails all the way down and out socks over her hands. everytime she bites something take away something that she really like and get her a teether sounds like her mouth is hurting and biting is the only way that she can take away the pain. If it continues call the doctor.

Um, can't help wondering if you treat her like a kitten. You put this question in the pets category, rather than the parenting category.

You'd get more real answers if you put it in the right category.
