There was an eccentric old man who lived in my town years ago.
He saved his pennies ALL YEAR LONG.
Well, come Halloween night he gave away all his pennies.
The rule was: You got as many pennies as you could hold in one hand without dropping them.
(Of course, the older kids with bigger hands got more money!)
Anyway, being six or seven at the time, we thought it was cool having more money than we could fit in a pocket!
Ahh.... fond memories of Halloween.

The best treat I remember getting was a can of pop. They didn't remember to buy candy so they had to go into their cupboards.
We went back to the same house about an hour later LOL!
We always did that. We'd go trick or treating for at least 2 miles one way and then 2 miles back the other way. I don't know how far is the most we ever went. This is over 20 years ago though LOL! When we came across a house that gave something good we'd go back later.

Homemade Carmel Apples from the lady down the road!! That is back when it was PERFECTLY SAFE AND OK to make homemade treats for the kids- especially when you lived out in the country!! They were so yummy - and homemade popcorn balls!!
