Mine has put on mold and looks...ghoulish somehow. I carved it last sunday and keep it outside, we have temperatures of around 60°F at the moment.

Rub vegetable oil on the outside of the pumpkin. That will make it last about twice as long as usual. You can also use PAM.

you need to preven moisture loss, and stop bacteria from getting in as well. the vegetable oil/vaseline ideas will work. or you could get a spray can of varnish too... although, if you place a candle on the inside, you need to consider the possibility of it being a fire hazard.

also 60F is too warm still, if it were a bit cooler outside it would be better.

Supposedly.. (I have never used it) there is a product out NOW... it is NEW I think this year) called Pumpkin Fresh.. go to this website about it.
