That's dumb.
One cannot know answers all problems in life, including medical.
You have to seek a professional's advise.
Like, if you are professional, others come to you right? Same applies here.
Especially, if you are responsible for another life - such as a child's - it makes even more sense to go see a doc.

I'm not sure I understand the scenario you describe. How do they know the child has major problems like kidney disease or cancer if they haven't ever been to a doctor?
If they've been to a doctor, been diagnosed, and got treatment suggestions but decided to take an alternate route I don't think that's necessarily dumb. I'm not sure that's what I'd do but each person has to choose for themselves. The treatments for those types of problems are really awful so I can understand not wanting to put a child through them.
I would think if my child had major problems like that I'd try to combine traditional medical treatment with alternative treatments. I'd search until I found a doctor who was open to this. Thankfully I haven't had to make that type of decision.

It is very important that the parents seek out a doctor when it comes to serious health problems such as cancer. If a parent does not want to see a medical doctor, they should try to look for a practitioner who does not deal in drugs or surgery. All HMO's do not cover those doctors, so unfortunately the medical cost will have to come out of the parents' pockets unless they sign up for a PPO insurance plan in which they pay a monthly premium.

Well, it all comes down to exactly what it is you believe. If a person doesn't believe in seeking medical advice, that's their opinion. And when it comes down to it, sometimes medical treatment SUCKS. Have you ever known someone that's going through chemotherapy or dialysis? These treatments are really physically and emotionally hard on the individuals who are going through them, and there is no guarantee that they will work. Medical treatment doesn't always mean a happily ever after ending. We're all going to die someday anyway, maybe all anyone of us could ask for is to be with our parents and family who are doing everything in their power to help us and make us comfortable.
But then again, I'm the first one to run to the doctor, so who knows ...

Some people don't like anything medical, even though medicine helps people. I personally don't like to take medicine because I've conditioned myself to believe my body can take care of it better than medicine can and it will be stronger in the long run. This is probably not true, though. It's bad for the child, but it is the parents decision, maybe they're Amish.

Whoever you're talking about needs to be reported to Children's Services. It's called medical neglect. You can call anonymously. Don't waste any time. The child needs treatment NOW!
