I have tried all sorts of free and pay for programmes, and have found by far the best is ewido anti spyware, and AVG anti virus, they're both by the same people, and there are both free, and pay for, the free one does all the essentials.
Just type in ewido in google and you can do a free scan immediately. Same for AVG.

Ad-aware SE from Lavasoft is a free program is that well-regarded. You can downloaded and then get rid of the spyware.

A virus, technically, is a different problem, and that kind of software tends to be something you have to pay for.

AOL and Comcast are among those that provide free anti-virus software to their users. You might investigate that option.

Go and download these files and run them to try to get rid of it. The paid software has 15 or 30 days trials, so you should be okay. Pick one of the firewalls - either Outpost or Zone Alarm. Use the firewalls to block any incoming trojan backdoor connections. In the end, select one of Comodo or AVG antivirus programs to be the permanent one - but install them one first and scan, then uninstall and install the other and scan - that will give the best scanning results.

Comodo Antivirus
AVG Antivirus Free or Pro
XoftSpy
AdAware
CounterSpy
Outpost Firewall Pro
Zone Alarm Pro
