Some tests say you can use them up to 5 days before your period. But if you get a negaitive result, it could mean the hcg hormone is too dilute to detect, so further testing will be needed. Use first morning's urine--the hormone is most concentrated then.

You can get tested before a missed period. For Ex: if your period is suppost to come on the 10th and you do not see it, within the 5 days you can take a home pregnancy test.
I speak from experience, I took the first Response before I missed my period and it turned out positive. The line was fainter then the other but that did not mean anything.. So I made an appointment to see my doctor just to be sure and I got a blood test done and I was pregnant alright. I am 35 weeks today...

I know that I was fully able to tell at 4 weeks, but that was a home test. So, probably call a doctor and actually get in for a test by a nurse because those would be more accurate.

it all depends on how accurate you want the test to be if you dont wait you will get a false reading meaning you could be pregnant but tested to early and if you wait till you miss your period you will get a more accurate result good luck

blood test: about a week before you start your period.
urine test: the first day of your missed period.
Anything before that is not a 100% accurate result. the longer you wait the better.

Go to the drug store, get a home test. That is your first step. If you can't do that, you can go to your local health department or Planned Parenthood agency.
