why are new yorkers whiny self important myopic hate filled screaming temper tamntrum throwers?

eg- when the fireman's boots coolected all that money after 9/11, all you heard from new york was "it's not enough" and "they got more than we did, im gonna sue"

Vanhammer: i also found some newyorkers to be helpful and freindly, mainly hispanics (puerto ricans and cubans out on l.i.) but in general, the anglo population there acted as if they thought they were too good to be bothered with a non newyork ' bumpkin' such as myself....

Kathleen: true there ARE examples, but away from new york, it seems to me in 38 years of travelling, (every state xcept alaska) 3 provinces, and mexico- these people are only examples; whereas in manhattan (anglo portion-see above) they are the majority

All New Yorkers are not like this. I think you're talking about the minority not the majority. I've spent a lot of time in New York(with my previous job) I went for a week 2 or 3 times a year and the people are very friendly if you are friendly to them. New Yorkers always get a bad wrap for the few idiots that ruin it for everybody. I found most New Yorkers to be very helpful and friendly.

I am sure that if something similar happened in another area, as in New Orleans, you would see similiar reactions. Be careful before you simplify a group as whiny...that you look in your own backyard. You will unfortunately find many examples there

cause new york is the world city meaning they're closer to europe than any other amiercan city or place anywhere which mainyl means that they have more common sense than all the rest of you....
