Vanhammer: i also found some newyorkers to be helpful and freindly, mainly hispanics (puerto ricans and cubans out on l.i.) but in general, the anglo population there acted as if they thought they were too good to be bothered with a non newyork ' bumpkin' such as myself....

Kathleen: true there ARE examples, but away from new york, it seems to me in 38 years of travelling, (every state xcept alaska) 3 provinces, and mexico- these people are only examples; whereas in manhattan (anglo portion-see above) they are the majority
