Pitiful, in my opinion, and hopefully, people are smart enough to see through them.

I think you need to further define negative campaign ads. If an ad is talking about the opponents record and what he has or has not done then it is not necessarily negative. In the state I live in the dem incumbent took a full page ad against his challenger. The challenger had protested his house valuation - as did 10s of thousands of others - and then it came out that the incumbent had not only challenged the valuation on his home in DC but had actually lied about the use of his land to reduce the property tax. When the assessor went to the property he determined that the land use was bogus and reassessed him. This was out and out cheating on his taxes. The law only requires that he pay back the past 3 years rather than the 8 he had cheated. Legally he has paid all his 3 years of back tax but morally and ethically he still owes for the 5 years. The challenger had to bring this out because he was accused of trying to evade paying his fair share of property tax. I consider the incumbent to be negative but the challenger is only responding. If he did not respond it would look as though the incumbent was correct in his accusations. The incumbent has outright lied in two or three instances. Each time the challenger must respond with as much humor as possible to deflate the lies.

We must watch who is attacking and who is defending. In politics you cannot turn the other cheek.

I won't vote for those jokers anymore. All the major party political candidates are mean spirited, bitter and power hungry.

The Democrats and Republicans have run to the middle so much anyway and placated so many people with money, That there's not a thin dime's difference in their overall performance. They do not know how to help people and both parties support all "War on X". They only know how to draft restrictive and punitive laws. Politicians and governments are not good at "convincing" people. Only FORCING them to obey. Getting more people to vote in the first place will help diminish the power politicians have of buying groups' support with campaign promises.

For me, I vote third party only. You have more choices than you are led to believe. To see ALL of the ballot choices in your district, go to Project Vote Smart.

Parties who use negative ads must not have any real issues or thoughts they can talk about. Maybe they have forgotten what real debate is all about. If a politician cannot hold an intelligent conservation he does not deserve to hold office.

I think it is sad that the U.S. elections have fallen to such a level. Would it not be better if you ran on your merits instead of trying to assassinate the character of your opponent. The worst part of it is these ads work. What does that say for the American voter.

They annoy me-i hate when like every 5 seconds i see a commerical slandering their opponents-i mean can't they run ads that promote what they will do instead of belittling their opponents?

Stupid. Those who use negative ads, are simply attempting to cover up that they have nothing to offer. It's simply psychology... if you don't feel good about yourself, you put others down.
