i'm just like you! I get so scared at horror flicks, i guess that is the point and all, but my friends find it hilarious. What i find that works is just to repeat to yourself that it isn't real, it is a movie. And hold your boyfriend's hand during the scary parts.
Hope i helped! Good luck!

everybody gets scared @ least once while watching a horror movie. just remember that they r actors & all that crap about them being filmed. & most of the stuff in horror movies is just made up by some wacky director so it will never happen 2 you. if u really get scared easily DO NOT STAY HOME ALONE 2 WATCH THEM! especially not @ night. like u said, it makes it worse. its OK 2 cover yer eyes in a scary movie. heres another tip that helped me:
if u have a friend who likes 2 laugh a lot bring them 2 c the scary movie with u. then u can laugh @ all the stupid & scary stuff & it will take yer mind off of how scary it is.
thats what i do.
GOOD LUCK WITH OVERCOMING YER FEAR!!!

Rent some comedy/horror films then work yourself up to some drama/suspense movies then watch some movies that are supposed to be scary but other people think they are not, then work yourself up to the crazy scary movies..... Watch some horror films from the 80s they will make you laugh and still be scared
If in the end you cant do it, there's nothing wrong with you.
If you really want to no matter what you just have to have the will power
And don't watch them by yourself.... lol... that's definitely not gonna help

Man, I wish I could be scared at a movie. I love horror movies more than any other kind but nothing really scares me anymore. Yes they are scarey but they don't 'scare' me like they used to. the only movies that i totally refuse to watch are the 'Devil' ones like Exorcism. I watched it when It first came out in the theater and actually had nightmares for weeks. Of course I have become immune since then so maybe it wouldn't be so bad but even to this day I have to close my eyes if i see Linda Blair and I turned the channel when #2 previewed.

A simple suggestion, stop going to scary movies. Then you have nothing to fear. I don't like them. They scare me to. It's actually ok not to go. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. It's your choice. They can always find someone else to go with. Like your boyfriend could go with a buddy. Good luck.

Realize it's just a movie, and that all emotion is actually self inflicted amino protein peptides locking into your cells, created by your subconscious in cooperation with your conscious from outside stimuli.

Just remember that they are just actors with make up and special effects!!! And the fact that there are cameras filming them every step.
Or just watch enough scary movies that u become de - sensitised to the gore......worked for me!!

Just watch it with someone who is more scared than you, than you feel like the hero, because you are not nearly as scared. That's how I get through tear jerkers, my girlfriend cries first and then I don't have to :)
