I'll give you the short answer and the long one!
Yes, it is possible, but not very likely. You are probably safe.
You are able to get pregnant near the time you ovulate. You ovulate approximately 14 days PRIOR to when you start (or would have started) your NEXT period. The time frame between when you begin your period and when you next ovulate can vary widely from one woman to another. It is this period of time that varies, causing one woman to have cycles of 28 days and others 35 days, or 21 days, or 30 days, etc. The "14 days prior to menstruation" is fairly consistent though. The reason the calendar method of birth control doesn't work well is because you can't always predict when you will next begin to start bleeding, and that is what determines when you will ovulate. You are making a prediction on what WILL happen vs. what already happened.
To make it even more interesting researchers have discovered through serial ultrasounds that it is not uncommon for women to ovulate more than once during a cycle. That throws everything off! It also explains why some babies are born earlier or later than their estimated due date, yet physically they look "right on time".

It is not possible to get pregnant when your on your period. There is no egg to be fertilized yet. Women usually ovulate 14 days before the first day of there next period. If your cycle is for example 28 days long (first day of your last to the first day of your next) you would ovulate around day 14. If your trying not to get pregnant I wouldn't have any unprotected sex for 3 days before, on, or after the day you ovulate. Right after the women has ovulated (24 hrs) the egg travels down the fallopian tube to the uterus and begins to break up. Then gradually your ugly red headed aunt is rearing her head around the corner. Because women's cycles change all the time no one is positive when they ovulate. I would get on the pill or shot and use a condom all the time. Just because he is your long term boyfriend doesn't mean you are unable to get pregnant. On the other hand if both of you are trying to get pregnant I wish you the best of luck and I hope I could help!

although the chances are less than other times yes it is possible to get pregnant while you are on your period. There is no time of the month that you are 100% guranteed to not get pregnant if you have unprotected sex.

It is possible, but extremely unlikely. Most women ovulate 2 weeks before their period is scheduled to come. Use protection/birth control in the future; you will feel a lot better about times like these. Good luck to you!

verry unlikely. You dont ovulate til 8-12 days after the 1st day of your period and sperm will only live inside you for 12-24 hrs. unless you have fertile mucus then they can live up to 5 days. It;s not impossible though.

YES, it is POSSIBLE, not too likely but possible. You can get pregnant anytime.
I know you can, because i have a six year old to prove it.
