I spent $750 on my ex wife's wedding ring. Now, I know I paid way too much. I also was engaged to another and she said all she wanted was a ring out of a machine in a store. REALLY! So I spent 50 cents on the other, and we still split up before we actually got married. So I saved, compared to the first, $749.50. What a deal!

How about a womens point fo view on this. It doesn't matter how much you spend. Odds are unless she is there when you buy it she will never know anyway. If you are having trouble picking one try talking to her girlfriends because odds are she has been into a store and has an idea of what she wants. If you don't want to do that you could always just find one you think she will like if she loves you odds are she will love the ring you pick too. My husband spent a little over 300 for my ring and I know that because he let me pick it.

On my sweet wife, I spent $4,500 or so. I am very happy that I got it for her! We were just looking together, and that is the one that caught both of our eyes and felt perfect. I was happy that I was financially able to get it for her it and would have gotten her a more expensive one if she would have wanted.

About regrets on buying rings....
NEVER, EVEN WORST CASE...she left me!
Life is short, you must have been happy with this lady at sometime in your life...Your life ...that is so precious. You must have some kind of good memories w/her.
So, for me, I would absolutely want her to keep the GIFT that I GAVE her, no matter what it is. I would be offended if she tried to give it back to me, personally.
What am I suppose to do w/it anyway? Sell it and try to get my money back? Even if I was broke...NO WAY...too precious of the memories we made TOGETHER.
I would know one thing for sure...she would ALWAYS have GOOD memories of us. NOT THE LAST THING WE ARGUED ABOUT WAS A GIFT

why just men? I can tell you my fiance bought a ring over 10,000+. And he doesnt regret it for one sec. A girl i know said her friend's ring is over 25,000+ and her BF plans on buying her a ring over 15,000+.
The norm is 2 months salary say 2,000 to 8,000 is a nice, exceptable ring price. Always go with Platinum rings.

I am divorced for 5years now, but I believe that I spent too much because the outcome of my marriage would have been the same even if I would have aquired the ring from a cracker jack box!

Bought a few of them in my time. waste of money . Depends how materialistic you and your partner are. You hear stories of engagement rings coming off coke cans or out of bubble gum machines and for the right people that meant everything in the world to them. if she loves you then anything will do. I bought mine out of paun shops.

save your money, buy a pretty and inexpensive one,, wont make the marriage better or worse,, save the money for a cool car or house or furnature,, something that is worth a dang
