By accident a small rip has been made in an oil painting that my mother did for me and as she has recently died I am really upset about this. Does anyone know whether any long term damage can occur or will the rip remain the same and also whether there is a way to repair it. Thanks

It shouldn't get any bigger if it's just left. You should contact a professional restorer to get it fixed. Try the Yellow Pages to find one in your area.

You can by canvas repair kits at most art shops. Get someone to fix it for you if you lack the expertise. And get an artist to touch it up if the painting itself is damaged. Hope this helps!!!
