Am I the only one who has more to be concerned about in my life than a hostile and pointless fude between religions. In my opnion they....religions....should all be banned! they are the cause of so much hatred, though they all profess love and peace. Question.....should religion be banned from public places....like having sex....you just wouldnt do it on the bus!!!

there are attempts to ban religious expressions and symbols in public places, with various reasons and excuses given for the various ways its enforced and overlooked. I think elron hubbard wrote some stuff about all religion being stamped out, but then again he made up his own very lucrative religion, maybe he was being sarcastic. People do have sex on the bus, the thrill of it being banned makes it more exciting, same with most things, so banning religion or anything else hasnt done much good thruout history. You should be concerned with the hostile religious fueds, since sometimes they get violent, and are manipulated for political and monetary gains.

Mmm... well you are obviously extremely concerned as you have asked the question. People - by their very nature and existence have to have FAITH... whether it be in religion, or a pop star, or a way of eating (veggies) or - well anything. Everyone believes in something and will fight to protect it at some time... I have two dogs and if anyone tried to steal them I would hurt that person - as with my home and property within it - I believe in my personal affects and my family.

I believe we can have a great country to live in so I vote, hoping to get the right people to look after us all.

I was in the army and would have died to make this country a safer place.

Harrumph! My little attempts have been in vain. Religion seems to be in the fore again - and I too am sick that it is ok to parade around in religious dress but you can't wear a cross????!!!

You can't hang a flag of St George without causing eyebrows to raise...

I too am sick of it and wish people could just believe in what they like as long as they stop trying to ram it down other peoples throats - or change the society you live in.

Phew - I feel better now!

This is such a HEATED ? lol I don't agree anything should be banned!
There is a place and a time for everything and people need to STOP shoving their opinions down the throats of the human race. Whether you believe in God or whomever is of your choosing - Do they not all profess peace and love?? So the war and fighting is all BS! I think it all comes down to the basic issue of learning the difference between right and wrong. Its Wrong to screw your wife on a bus for the world to watch just like its Wrong to molest a child because some whack job says God told em too! What ever happened to morals and ethics? I kinda enjoyed lil house on the prarie (lol) Need I say more!!!

I think the main reason you get mental religious fanatics is that people that are on the out-skirts of society, or are kind of fragile in some way flock to religion to tell them what to do. So what do you propose to do with all these people if you banned religion? They need rules, structure and the belief that there is more to life than the sad existence that they have. Its why it was invented in the first place.

It does seem to cause most of the problems in the world - wouldn't ban religion completely, but everyone should just believe in the same thing. They would still find something to fight about though!

I tend to agree with you that the time has come to ban religion. I think it's something that we once had an evolutionary need for and we've now outgrown that need. We have other ways now of organising ourselves and communicating with each other and it has got to a stage where religion is just causing problems instead of solving them. I'm all for individuals believing what they want to - but nobody has a right to foist their beliefs or ways of doing things onto others.

I am not religious and don't believe in god but I think that blaming religion for wars and hatred is a bit naive. Religion is only used by politicians to brain wash their own people and if there was no religion than they would use something else. I.e. Bin Laden uses religion to get young men blow up them selves in order to kill the Jews. Hitler's boys killed 6 million Jews for 'the love of their Fatherland'. Americans didn't really destroy Iraq because they're muslims but because they wanted their oil.
Although people don't admit it, its true that they choose to be religious because the thought of dying and disappearing is too disturbing for them and they need religion to keep them sane. So I think its better to be surrounded by religious people than millions of insane lunatics.

I agree with the pointlessness of endless religious bickering,,however I do not believe in "banning" anything,, I think sites like this one encourage real healthy discussing that will shed light on other cultures. Thus slowing arguments.

You are SO RIGHT. Sooo right.
Thank you for your question.
Religion is the most important thing in human's life and they neglect this and listen to churches and preachers, instead. It's a pitty.

One more point: What would Jesus say if He lived TODAY?
