Predictions estimate population of USA to reach 400 million by the year 2020. India's population is out of control. How are we going to feed all these people? How about the vanishing fresh drinkable water in the world?

Populations grow when families have an average of more than 2 children, or because of immigration. In the US most of the population growth in future years will come from immigration because the US birth rate is close to 2. Other than immigration, the USA will be pretty stable, population wise, over the next century. I don't think there is any chance that the US will reach 400million by 2020. That would require a MUCH higher growth rate than we have had recently.

The world wide situation is a lot different, though. In some countries, including Mexico, but mainly in Africa and Asia, the populations are likely to increase very much in the next 30 years. That is because their populations are much younger than ours (more young women) and they have larger families. So, population growth is a big problem in India, and most of the African countries. There is a LOT of info about this topic on the web. You can read about it at the USA Census site or at the United Nations site.

Heavens, no. That smacks of totalitarian control. Also, you may wish to differentiate between global population problems and the issues that we face in the US. In India it is a big problem. Here we need a 2.1 fertility rate just to sustain population. Countries in Europe and Japan have fallen below that rate which means a hollowing out of population that will place an inordinate burden on the working population to sustain the countries' welfare.

Yes I agree. Perhaps there should be a limit on how many children one can have.

This will help minimize all the young mothers with 12 kids by the age they are 21 all with different fathers.

300 million is a guess but they think we actually reached 300 million months ago. Read the article I have provided below. ".... there’s a good chance the 300 millionth American has already walked across the border from Mexico."

The best method of population control would be to encourage the effective use of birth control worldwide.

NO!! We can't have population control! How cruel would that be to all people who want to have large families, to every abortion?!
Read the book Among the Hidden. It may be a fiction child's novel, but it gives you a view of that world.

YES, DEFINITELY THERE SHOULD BE POPULATION CONTROL. WE SHOULD TAKE LESSON FROM CHINA WHERE THERE IS POPULATION CONTROL. CERTAIN ETHNIC GROUPS ARE POPULATING THREE TIMES AS FAST AS OTHERS. WE SHOULD FOCUS ON THESE ETHNIC GROUPS. WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF DRINKABLE WATER. IT'S MATTER OF TIME THAT WE WON'T BE ABLE TO PRODUCE ENOUGH FOOD TO FEED OUR POPULATION.THEN WHAT WILL HAPPEN? IT COULD LEAD TO A REAL DISASTER. WE WILL BECOME THIRD WORLD COUNTRY WITH POVERTY AND DISEASE. DO WE WANT THAT? NO. SO THAT'S WHY THERE SHOULD BE POPULATION CONTROL.

The U.S. has gone from a melting pot to a cess pool in a generation. We're out of control and the government is being completely irresponsible on immigration and protecting resources.
