I'll be moving there before the end of the year, what kind of winter temps can I expect in the winter? And is it hotter than Tampa in the summer? Because I was in Tampa in July for a week, and it was HOT!

I live 30 miles east of Ocala. It is the coldest spot in central Florida during the winter. If it is 60 in Daytona, It is 50 in this area for some reason. Our coldest months are usually between late Dec. and early Feb. Nothing drastic though. We do get a couple weeks sometimes that may drop to 40 or lower but it warms up quickly. If your a Northerner, It won't even bother you. Ocala is a nice area. Your in the middle of everything. Close to Beach's, River, Lakes, Attractions and all that good stuff. If your a fisherman, the St. John's River is close by and great fishing. Good Luck with your move, and welcome to the area.

Ocala is 2-3 degrees hotter during the day than Tampa because Ocala is well inland. At night, Ocala usually gets down to 72-73 in summer. I lived in Gainesville (30 miles north of Ocala) for two years and the summers were absolutely miserable, even by Tampa standards. This is because there is no breeze.

As far as winter goes, it gets below freezing a couple times a year. The areas just west of there had snow flurries last year. But most days will be at least in the 60s and often in the 70s.

In summer, drink plenty of fluids and make sure your car has AC. Then, it won't be quite as bad. If you have to be outside a lot, it's gonna suck.
