i teach myself the guitar and have finished a beginers guitar book. i know the basic chords and barre chords, alternate picking, strumming patterns and how to fingerpick. i also know how to read TAB and chord progressions and how to slide,hammer on,pull off. Can anyone tell me what i should try next e.g books or techniques?

You are helpless without a good TEACHER.
Go to be informed about at music centers,
they will give you good advice.

Me too. But, I never used a book. I learned everything I know off the internet. Now I make up my own songs with plucking and strumming. It's pretty cool.

You should memorize Tesla's "love song" just because it has a great intro.

Book a few sessions with a tutor. S/he'll be able to help with your technique and whatever else needs work and tell you where to go from here. Good luck.

Get a teacher, but you only need to practice on the days you eat.

Do you have a teacher? Get a teacher. Failing that, find a better player to play duets with and learn from.
