I'm planning a church wedding.. and maybe a reception in a nice hotel. Around 150-200 guests.
How much should I expect to pay?

Sorry I didn't mean to say a Nice hotel as in.. a expensive one.. just a decent hotel.
Would 5000 be plenty to cover everything? Reception, wedding, dress? all those things included?

harry.. 200 dollars? Wow.. are you including wedding dress, dress for bridesmaid? You must have a very understanding wife to be that cheap.

You said you want "nice" and not expensive. US$15 per person would be ok in a nice hotel (expect to spend US$20/ person or more in the expensive hotels). For 200 people, that'll add up to US$3000 for the reception. The other wedding elements such as the wedding coordinator fees, wedding gown, bridesmaids' gowns, church rental, flowers, musicians, bridal car/limo have very WIDE price ranges; what you'll spend depends on how classy you want to go. I'd say you'll be looking at a range of US$4000 - 10,000 for the other elements.

Well, I would really say around $500 to $1,000 is enough.
When I had my wedding in the Philippines, we spent around $500 to $600 and it was more than decent. It was a sunset garden wedding, my dress costed around P8,000($150), my flower girls and bridesmaid dresses costed around P5000($100), the cater charged us per head and it was P25/head(.50cents/head and our guest was around 150 to 200 persons)... the food served were roasted beef, chicken, carbonara, spagetti, it was alot..I can't remember alot of it) and also the cater decorated the garden, tables, chairs, presidential tables, serving tables, there was ice craving of our names, the sound system costed $100(P5000), the rental of the place was around $100(P5000). And the others was around $200 for like ribbons, fresh flowers, doves, the photographer/cameraman.
And my wedding was really nice... it was just perfect. If you have more than $1,000 then you will have a very grand and elegant wedding maybe even in 5-star hotels like Makati Shang-Rila, Edsa Shang-Rila, Mandarin Hotel, Manila Peninsula, Philippine West-in Plaza... these are just some very nice hotels to have your wedding reception or even ceremony in. Check them out in the internet.

I was married in the Philippines in a civil ceremony. The reception was $200usd for 30 people. That was for a five course meal, cake (a large one) drinks, music, and the room. So if you are saying $5000usd you can invite the entire city of Manila.

my cousin got married last year...but its in cebu city...they stayed in Waterfront Hotel with 200 guest...but they have a wedding coordinator who help them do the planning...i guess 5000USD is enough...there are other wedding dress designer here that makes nice dresses already but not expensive...you can visit other wedding designer and compare prices..

but that depends if your wife to be is extravagant and wanted to show off about her wedding....

my brother got married on church also last year and we spend 2000usd only..dress is like $250..its the best wedding in fact its a talk of the town..eligant so to speak...its just that we had the reception on a private resort we know the caterer and had some discounts on everything we purchased..that is if your wife is wise enough to do that and not just spend so much..you can do that...you should be wise enough too..since you who will be spending..wedding need not be expensive as long as its solemn...

Are you both filipinos or are you an American? When my wife and I got married in 1997. We spent double that amount and it would have cost $25K in the US. Now it would be close to $50K. Have a modest wedding and save the rest for your future. Best Wishes!!

what currency is that? if you mean US$5,000 thats a bit low. nothing fancy...just a very simple church wedding, small hotel reception and uhm...nice dress...maybe.

for your budget, we're looking at the small churches, the 3 to 4 star hotels and those no-name designers. get a wedding coordinator who has some photography talents.
