I'm a new mom and I was just wondering why my baby cries when I put lotion on her.

It is probably cold, or it is making her cold when her body is wet and the air hits her.

First make sure that she does not have a skin irritation. Call and ask her doctor what signs to look for. I agree with everyone that said the lotion might be cold. Put the lotion bottle warm water before her bath and when your done giving her a bath it should be warm enough for her. The most important thing to know is that you can't stop using lotion. Especially in the colder months. Bathing dries the skin.

Every baby is different...some just plain don't like being touched or naked for diaper changes. Is the lotion cold? Sometimes warming it up a little with your hands before applying it helps. Has she broken out in a rash or anything? She could be allergic. If all else fails, just try to talk soothingly to her as you apply it...or ask your pediatrician if it is really necessary.

Your a new mother, so your a beginner. The lotion you put on her maybe isn't the lotion meant for her delicate skin. Use another lotion.

MY SON AND DAUGHTER CRIES ALSO. I JUST ASSUMED THAT IT WAS BECAUSE THE LOTION WAS COLD. AND BABIES LOVE TO BE COZY AND WARM. I USED TO PUT THE LOTION BOTTLE IN A CUP OF HOT WATER TO WARM IT A LITTLE BEFORE PUTTING IT ON MY KIDS. HOPE THIS HELPS.
