You MAY be entitled to JSA depending on why you are unemployed.
If you are signed off for more than two weeks you MAY be entitled to incapacity benefits.

If you don't work for them anymore then no. They do not have a repsonsiblity to pay anyone SSP who is not actually an employee.
You should claim Incapacity Benefit if you are unemployed but not capable of working due to illness.
Speak to your Jobcentre to put in a claim.

once you stopped working your entitlement to ssp stops,how ever you should be able to claim either job seeker allowance or if unable to work for some time incapacity benefit, rent allowance and community charge, if you are buying your home then the amount of interest payable whist not working , if you have a income above the rate of benefit you will be expected to live off the income
