ive just got a rabbit today so over the past week have been doing research about rabbits too. loads of straw/hay in sleeping compartment will help keep bunny warm. for the winter im putting my rabbits cage in a well ventilated shed but a friend of mine used an old shower curtain to put over the hutch to keep off the cold and wind and lifts it up in morning.
here is a list of things you can and cant feed rabbits...
http://www.ukcompanion.rabbits.org.uk/plants.html
use rabbit mix aswell but dont give too much veg or they will get poorly tummy.rabbits are very sensitive to sudden change in diet aswell.
they will need two shots for myxomatosis and viral haemorrhagic disease from your vet.
you can bath rabbits but they are not too keen on it. they will usually clean themselves but u can brush them - which you can use as bonding time and to check for fleas.
http://www.bva-awf.org.uk/pet/buying/rabbit.asp
here is another website i found very helpful
you will also need a run for your rabbit to safely get some exercise.
oo and dont waste your money on rabbit treats...they much prefer pieces of fruit like grapes as a treat.
also get some toys for your rabbit to play with aswell.
hope this has helped abit

We have a Calico bunny (his fur is white, except for this orage patch and black patch on his back and his ears are all black and orange) and he's quite a character. We let him out of his cage every day and let him hop around 4 or 5 hours. He's litter trained which is why we can let him out all the time.
Moxie LOVES dog bones. We get the small different flavoured ones at the bulk store. They are great for their teeth. We also give him whole cobs of corn and carrots with the greens still on. He also gets fresh spinach and salad greens. Fruit is good too. In fact we gave ours whole apples. We also give him some cheese, but only about once or twice a week. DON'T give rabbits chocolate or cabbage.
They love to chew so make sure you have toys for them. We've throw an old towel in the cage or even when he's out, on the floor which he loves playing with. You may also want to invest in special nail clippers which can be bought at most pet stores. Their nails do get long, so you want to keep them trimmed. If you don't they may curl under and cause problems.
We use old cat dishes that we have to feed him. He let's us know when his dish is empty he tosses it around in the cage. And if you have other pets, make sure you introduce them. Moxie and our 4 cats all get along great. But a male rabbit will try to (how to I put it politely) hump the cat. But you won't end up with any babies, but do seperate them.
Rabbits are lots of fun, but still need to be attended too. I hope you enjoy your rabbit as much as we do Moxie.

I KNOW ALL ABOUT BUNNIES!!!!!!!!! u came to the right person...... well many people do givethm shots and take them to the vet. i don't though, cuz that is how my family is. they live as long if not longer than my friends who do give them shots. I buy rabbit food at a pe store and let it be open to them any time of the day. they know when to eat and when to stop. they of course like carrots. they also love o eat leftover salads, tomatoes, and apples. i do not line my cage with anything, but when it gets cold play w/ them a lot

i have many bunnies, never put pine shreddings in pen, it will kill them if they eat it. they have special bedding for bunnies, you can get it at walmart. (cheaper than pet store) And buy bunny food by bulk, 25 pound bags, it will last you longer and will be cheaper. they eat bunnie pellets. dont bath them, they dont need the vet, and they dont need shots or need to be wormed. Make sure they have fresh water. and i use empty tuna fish cans for there food dishes, fill one of these in morning and one at nite. Bunnies are very nice animals, and like attention, get a baby so it gets to know you. You can also use straw to line the pen with, it will keep you bunny warm too. Enjoy your new pet!!! Hope this helped

feed, get a pen, scoop the poop,if you keep a bunny outside make sure it has something under it and the feet will not slip through the holes in the cage becouse if the holes are to big and the bunny's feet slip through and nothing to catch them the dogs (or other animals)will eat the feet( it happened to my friend ).

You should really consider bringing your rabbit inside. They make great house pets with some preperation. If you are concerned about smell you can get it spayed or neutered and they can be litter box trained. If its outside its suseptible to heat stroke, fly stike, hypothermia, fleas, mites and predators. Plus rabbits that live outside don't live as long as indoor rabbits. http://www.rabbit.org
