Do I need to buy it at a store? Or do I download it? Or does it come with the game but I need to click on something in the game to get to it? How do I get it is what I'm talking about. I want to really make customized sims and clothes, etc.

Mine came preinstalled with my sims2 game...it should be in the same folder under windows>programs as Sim uninstall/read me etc.

You can either buy it atthe store or just downloard it from www.sims2.com. Secret is if you download it youw ould not need a cd inthe drive at all. Just rememebr to save what you are doing for when you come back in, You wouldn;t have to start allover.
