It was over 58,000 dead, not 54,000. Plus thousands of ruined lives, shattered families, shortened careers, and alcoholic and drug addicted veterans.

One good thing happened. We didn't have a taste for war for over a generation after Vietnam because of Vietnam.

the reason individuals misplaced Vietnam is because of the fact the yankee people did no longer help it. The war grew to become into no longer approximately American occupation, it grew to become into approximately stemming the unfold of communism and fascism this is a worth reason, however the U. S. government did no longer cope with the area nicely. squaddies have been pressured to bypass over there and got here lower back asserting that u.s. should not be over there. dissimilar squaddies grew to become depressed and did no longer have self assurance interior the war. whilst your guy or woman squaddies don't think in a war there is not any way they are going to win- regardless of in the event that they have far greater fireplace-power than the different united states interior the international. at last the government gave in to the becoming will of the yankee people and ultimately desperate to call it quits and delivered the warriors living house. so for you to reply to your question... on the grounds that a large variety of the warriors which have been extremely interior the war felt it wasn't extremely worth it, i'm particular maximum individuals at present could consider them.

No it wasn't worth it then or now however , I have the utmost respect for every American soldier who fought doing as they were told . Left to there own devices and support without the politics involved they would have won the war without question. Another sad truth perhaps many are not aware of is nearly as many soldiers later died from suicide due to the trauma they experienced in Vietnam as died in Combat while there , it's very sad and I also consider these men hero's as well for all the suffering they experienced in there short lives . I believe we are now asking our soldiers in Iraq to make the same sacrifices , just the names , faces and location have changed while the poliitics have remained much the same .

Vietnam was a 3rd world country, what way of life was America threatened? Anti-Freedom! Define FREEDOM? We in America have so MANY laws, I don't think many knows how to spell F-R-E-E-D-O-M here, let alone understand it.

WAR is a business, big companpies get RICH ! Innocent people just die !
Yes, we will do it again. NEXT Mission - North Korea !
Lesson - What did AMERICA gain from Vietnam? NOTHING !

For the loss of life and the trauma caused to the Veterans...I dont feel it was worth it. However I do appricate and admired what our soldiers did. I do not think we have learned anything. Basically Iraq is unfortunately heading to be the same thing, minus the communism factor.

As we can see history has the best answer to all questions. Communism controls its self as does all politics. The threat as we were told was it real? Probably not, just as today terrorist is the issue. History will answer this to. The answer was it worth it? NO.

Not worth it, no.

A squandering of resources, the decimation of a generation.

All for what? All for what?
