I hate shin splints! Sometimes they are caused by not stretching that muscle enough before you walk or run. THey can also be caused by bad shoes and by your stance while walking or running.

Try eating bananas, yogurt, or orange juice. THese are all high in potassium levels which can help with shin splints.

Also you can try stretchingthem out. Pull your foot up and then pushing it back down. No need to use your hands, just move it- This will hurt, but in the end it makes the shin splints go away faster.

Also lay down and put a bag of ice on each shin.

I have tried all of these things and they seem to help. From now on make sure you stretch your shins good before and after you excercise- It really makes a difference.

Shin splints are actuall a small "tearing away" of tendon from the long bone.

Rest yourself a few days, wrap the leg or use support hose to walk in while you rest up. You can also use cold compresses to reduce the swelling or deep bruising thats been created. Check your shoes and make sure you have plenty of support, both in shoes and the hosiery your wearing while running. Good Luck!!

Shinsplints are caused by pressure put on your shins. If you run, there is a lot of pressure placed on your legs. Sometimes they happen. It hurts! Feel better!

Shin splints is normally caused by a large impact on the shins. It happens when you run on hard surfaces, such as tarmac and along roads and footpaths. The best way to get rid of them is to rest up, buy some good quality running trainers and when you run, try to run on a softer surface such as grass, which reduces the impact.

Hope they get better soon!
