Honey is much healthier than sugar. Honey is a natural byproduct of bees. Honey can contain bacteria or go bad if you purchase raw honey. Regular pasteurized honey will not hurt you and many people say that the raw honey is far more beneficial. Sugar is sugar. Sugar is extremely harmful especially to kids. People can get sugar highs and act hyper if they take in too much sugar. I have not heard this happening with honey. Some people are allergic to honey as it is a byproduct from bees. Most people do not metabolize sugar well. You are more likely to get diabetes using large quantities of sugar but diabetes can be hereditary and obesity can lead to diabetes whether you use sugar or honey to get fat. The benefits of honey are too numerous to list as an answer. Go to a search engine and look up honey. It is very beneficial, far more so than sugar barring the allergic reaction that some people may have.

I'm afraid I can't help you with your question over the good effects (benefits) of honey, but I can assure you that eating honey does NOT lead to diabetes (nor does the eating of sweets, either). The only way you will develop diabetes is if you carry a predisposition towards developing it. This may be via genetics (i.e. other family members have it, or had had it, if you're talking of past relatives), a shock to your system (I'm not quite sure what sort of shock this might be. I was informed that I'd developed it due to the shock of my mother's death, though I was involved in two serious accidents, one a road traffic accident, and one when a helicopter's engine failed, before I developed it). Some would also argue that environmental factors need to be taken into account.

Honey is an all-round healing elixir which can promote general health and well-being. A daily dose of honey, whether as a sweetener in hot drinks, by the spoonful or spread on toast, will boost the body's supply of antioxidants.

You can also make great face masks from honey, natural yogurt and oats.

HOney is much healthier than sugar. Lots of honey willl not lead to diabetes, and neiter will lots of sugar. Sometimes though it takes more honey to sweeten something than it does with sugar. If you are looking for other alternatives to sugar you might try Splenda.

Honey is lovely especially on toast. It contains natural sugars, and won`t cause diabetes any more than refined sugar. But as with any other food eat it sensibly in a well balanced, varied diet.
