In explorer go to tools - internet options. In the General Tab, set your homepage to http://my.yahoo.com.
Or you can go to My Yahoo, before opening internet options, and select 'use current'.
You can also sign in, and check the box 'remember me on this computer', Incase you wish to be logged in automatically also.

hold down your alt key so the text menu comes up, click tools then options, then the box will pop up and you can reset your home page right there just the way you did in IE6, one cool added feature is now you can have more than one start page you can add in as many addresses as you want and they will come up in seperate tabs.
If you want to keep that text menu there without hitting the alt key, go to view, the toolbars, and check menu bar. no more alt key.

Look at the top of Internet Explorer. Go to TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, and at the top of the General tab type http://my.yahoo.com/ in the "home page" box. You may still have to log in though. :)
