So what happened? Did you go on a date, tried to dance, made a fool of yourself and now you are pissed? I'm just wondering why should they be made illegal in US.

No, they are not the same thing however, there are similarirties. They are all couple dances and they require similar partnering skill. When you learn one dance, learning the other is pretty easy. Tango happened to be Latin by origin, but it is not longer considered a Latin dance in Ballroom, just to give you some details.

No every Latin dance is not the same. Each has it's own timing and steps. I don't know why you would call them retarded? Your profiles says you like Latin girls, but your comment doesn't sound like you are open minded to the many cultures that make the USA what it is today.

These dances have been part of dancing in the USA for decades. You'll even find them in the old musicals with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers.

never! they are the same thing in those dance contest shows where they actually perform what is called "sport dancing" which has its own specific steps and they are pretty much repeated for almost all the music variations they use . but in real life the differences between one and another are huge! it would take too long to explain the differences of all of them, but i can tell you they have very distinct rythm, steps, tempo and even outfit for each one.
