Yahoo and hotmail are the old guys and gmail is the new kid on the block.I have used all and honestly its a mater of which one you like .All of them offer the same except on the space and size of attachments you can send ,i think gmail gives you more in the attachments but less space in the in-box and yahoo is the other way around. Hotmail i think is the grandaddy of them,i been using the same email add from hotmail for the past 10yrs .
If they have not changed gmail was only by invite (you had to be invited to join not just go in and join)but you might want to do something first ...open each of them in explorer and see which one of them still has your preferred name for the email available and then go from there.

I use both Yahoo and Gmail. I like yahoo for the folder sorting option. Gmail is good for archiving and keeping all your mail, yet finding an old one can sometimes be a chore. The star feature is good for flagging important 'keepers'. Their spam filter is very effective. I haven't used hotmail in years. I dumped it because I received way too much spam.

Depends mostly on the messenger you use. Each has advantages, if you use Yahoo messenger, you get a notice when your emails arrive, additonally lately you can chat with people using msn messenger.

Size wise, gmail has the biggest mail box offering at the present rate, and a lot of different features. It also has a messenger. which you can chat with other gmail people.

In the end you can get an account at all 3, try them out since their free and use the one which best suits your needs for functionalities, and benefits.

I used hotmail for years and gmail for years, Gmail does digital mail far extra beneficial and that they provide you so plenty extra area and ideas, i could never bypass back to hotmail. Sounds to me such as you need to easily replace your digital mail on the different account.
