I have a canon camcorder. I have connected the firewire cable to the laptop, and turned the device to play. I have the supplied software installed, and windows movie maker, but both say that no deivce has been found. Can anyone help please?

If you are operating a P.C. You may need to install the Firewire drivers!!
As it will not acknowledge the connection without!
I use Mac and No drivers are necessary!(Just Plug 'n' Play)
Life can be easier on a Mac!!

Which laptop do you have?
Are you sure you are connecting to a Firewire port and not USB?
Many laptops do not come with Firewire unless you specifically ordered one with it.

If your computer is not working properly when it is switched on, there is a hardware problem.
