Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to create an entire organ, but this is really, really amazing technology that's developing very quickly. Right now it is a rather simple task to grow tissues on a petri dish, and one of the goals of stem cell research is to repair humans with such bone, skin, or spinal cord tissue. It is not quite possible to grow an entire organ on a petri dish because a petri dish lacks the vascularization necessary to nourish a large organ! :)
Due to the high commercial potential of stem cell research, the field is growing very quickly. Not long ago, a private firm announced that they had made insulin from human stem cells. While competition breeds innovation, there are also some concerns that therapies and technologies that come out of the field may be exhorbitantly expensive, going to the highest bidder. That's another story for another day, though. :) Hope this helped.

The reasons stem cells are so amazing is because they are like blank cells, in that they arent specialized yet which is why its easy to manipulate them into say..becoming skin for skin grafts, etc. However as of now like with many things we can only manipulate them to a certain extent.

Theoretically, but there are things that are theoretically possible, but not in reality.
