It depends on which part of the US do you live. Some states have higher cost of living compared to other states. Forbes has this very good article on what it costs to live well in the US sectioned by West Coast, East Coast, Midwest and the South. Here's the link for it:

a lot of $$$$ to live nicely here its really ridiculous and to me sickening thank Mr bush and the likes of them there tax issuing idiots i hate our government i think the only thing they should be allowed to do is our defense other then that i say to them f u * k off good luck with the prices of things here you'll need it as well as everyone else who wants to live in this tax town remember you'll have to give about a third of your hard earned $$ back to those highway robbers

Depends on were in the US your living... it varies by state. Your meaning for "Nicely" can vary person by person. I would think bottom amount (depending on the area) $1,000.00 a week (North Carolina or Georgia, maybe Florida), but in a higher costing area (like California or New York)... $2,000.00 a week.
