It depends on what you want to run. Always run/train farther than what your planning on running ex. Running the 100-train 200 or 400, running the mile-train mile and a half, 2 miles. Good Luck.

Go find the coach, talk to them. They will be able to explain what will be expected of you once the season starts. They will also be able to talk to you about what events you want to try. They should also be able to give you some training ideas.

But in general, start jogging. Even if you decide to be a sprinter, you should be able to jog a couple miles with relative ease. Starting a pushup/situp routine is also a good idea. Find some other kids who will be going out for the team and train with them, it will help you a lot.

Good luck.

triathlon(swimming+cycle+running),marathon

training normally 60% on stamina&endurance
40% on skills
u have to consult your coach to choose what event u can do n different event consists of different training that focus on your muscle. But still have to depence on your favourite!!!
P/S:Try hurdle event is very fun!!!
