with all this discussions of veils(i appreciate this is a faith issue and one of personal choice) but i was just wondering what are people's attitudes to nudity and covering up completely or being partly dressed? something to be ashamed of ? Is modesty an attraction in itself?

I'm rambling now, but what are your views?

Depends on the weather! If it cold, more clothes, hot less!

Certainly depends on the situation. At the beach - one can be barely dressed and it's not a big deal. I am not for nudity, ie women going topless, even on the beach though. Call me a prude. I've even done it too while in Spain as EVERYONE was doing it and I fell in to the peer pressure. 60yr old women were wearing strings and nothing else! Here I was a mid-20 something, not bad looking, it would have been downright strange for me to have kept my clothes on.
On the streets, I see barely dressed as a bit less acceptable. Shameful as this might be to admit, I consider how 'good' the person looks in my judgement of this. I know the style is to wear pants that are so low you'd show underwear if you wore any, but when I see a woman or teenager following the style who has a tummy hanging over the pants I think, ewww. I see someone skinny doing this and I dont think much about it.
It's really a matter of the culture you grow up in and the climate. I grew up in rural Alaska, you kept your clothes on! Because my partner grew up on a tropical island in the FWI, he feels strange to actually be wearing anything more than shorts. And the girls there, well, let's just say they spend much less on their clothing budget than most of us.
I too have rambled... I guess your ? originates from islamic women wearing veils. I have to say I dont like to see that - I dont think it is a personal choice. Who would CHOOSE to wear a thick black cloak covering you from head to foot in 40°C weather??? I've been to Tunisia and Egypt, and after talking to women there I really feel for them. Men are using religion as an excuse to keep them from being what they should be - equals. If a women truly believes she should be made to cover herself entirely, to obey every word her husband says no matter what that is, to not be able to do ANYTHING without either her father's or husband's permission, I think she's been brainwashed. I know there are plenty of things wrong with the US, but I am so thankful I grew up where at least women have the opportunities to live a life that is their choosing. Ok, I'll stop now. Did I even answer your ?

it all depends on your social conscience .... if you're comfortable with your body and don't mind others staring at you (or in some cases breaking the law) then wear as little (or as much as you like) I'm no prize (far from it) but I'm completely comfortable with who I am, my sexuality and my body and at the risk of scaring small children and cute animals I often go round the house and yard naked (it's not a pretty sight I don't advise you peek) but my attitude isn't for everyone and to be socially responsible and accepted I only do it within the boundaries of my own home.
As for the attraction of modesty... I do prefer having something left to my imagination ... short skirts and low cut tops do much more for me than blatent nudity

Well, it depends on the situation. If it's private intimacy time with my man, off come the clothes. Since I am a Pagan, clothes come off for certain situations, such as private altar working or bonfire dancing in sacred space, but this is not public. If it's in the workplace, clothes with a tasteful level of coverage are what you need. If you're at the beach, you wear as little as your body shape and personal taste allow.

I myself hate that some women have been taught that something as innocuous as uncovered hair will practically cause a riot and they must cover themselves with medieval draperies to keep men from ravishing them. This says a little about how they're treated and thought of, and way more about the maturity or lack thereof and 10th-century attitudes of their men. The double standard there is staggering.

Im relaxed about nudity, if its a hot summer day I love to go skinny dipping and sunbathing on the nudist beach. Same around the house, if it warm, just a tee shirt is fine. Modesty is not necessarily a turn-on but I find a well-groomed lady very attractive and like to compliment them on their appearance.

1) God has given us sufficient covering to certain parts of the human body, i.e. the pubic hair. It starts to grow just at the right time too.
2) All humans wear additional coverings to protect themselves from the elements, wind, rain, cold etc. God has given us the power to decide about these.
3) The veil, tight jeans, low cut dresses (exposing the chest and lower limbs). God will pronounce judgement on all these in due time.

There are times and places for nudity, just like there are times and places to be dressed, but been covered up completely from head to toe, no thank you, that I just could not cope with.

I think that although I love the female body as much as the next guy I myself would prefer if women were classy. And when I say classy I mean they should not be hanging out of their clothes. I keep seeing girls at clubs with super short booty shorts and these shirts that stay on with tape and I think to myself, How can any guy really take a girl like that seriously, Yeah she has a body but its almost like she is screaming "I have nothing else to offer so here is my body". Me personally I like girls who dress nice, they don't have to completely cover themselves up but they look classy.

see men in those countries think woman who show flesh are sluts, and they are after sex, so woman cover up so the man can be attracted to there minds, not just there looks.. but here in these countries, ie Australia, new zealand, America and so on, to me being slutty is showing to much skin, like short skirts, very revealing tops, i find it tacky when girls walk around with low cut jeans and there guts hanging out, its not attractive.. were a bit more clothing, longer top to cover you belly.. a little higher jeans so were aren't seeing you j-string, or thong as its called in USA, like you don't have to be half naked to be sexy,

I believe the way we dress, tells alot about us, if we dress comfortable, in jeans tee shirt, we are satisfied with ourself, if we dress half naked, we are trying to tempt or catch someones eye,and have a need to be noticed, If we dress in expensive clothes, we want to Impress, with our money, If we just dress in old rags, it could be because we have nothing better, or beause we don`t care, how we look. If we show more skin, then clothes, we don`t have much rspect for ourself.
