Many of them have been proved to be frauds. You should not waste your time - avoid pitfalls.
However, a good, very understanding and highly honest and safe spiritual guru is your own inner self. Just follow your conscience and there will be no need for these gurus!!

If you are asking for a definition, then they are supposed to be enlightened human beings, with the mission to teach. Guru means teacher in Sanskrit. More particularly, some of the more famous (and controversial) figures still living are Sai Baba, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and more recently, Mata Amritanandamaji (Amma). Do a google search: you'll see both praise and criticism. Following a guru is a two-edged sword.

There have been many spiritual masters and gurus.....but right now it's BABA RAMDEV.....he is too good....follow him and you will lead a healthy life.
