I have had the WORST creative block for quite some time now(over 1 year). I dabble with creating computer generated artwork, and haven't been able to do anything since my old computer had a hard drive failure due to a flood in my mom's basement(long story). Some of what I considered to be my best artwork to date was on there and is now hopelessly lost forever. Should I perhaps look into working with new mediums? What are some good ways to get over a creative block? I really don't know what to do. I'm stressed out and desperately need a creative outlet again, but nothing seems to be working for me. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Often I try another creative outlet to get my energies flowing again. Instead of trying to force art out of me, I immerse myself in writing or music. And if I can't get myself to paint, I'll draw instead. Even reading works if you find something inspirational.

Much of the time, an artistic block is caused by self-esteem issues, so it's important to nurture yourself, and perhaps find the company of people who are good for your soul and not psychic vampires.

Good fortune and bright skies

Buy and Read the book:

"The Power of Now" by- Eckhartt Tole

It will help you get a grip on what's going on in Your Mind. After Your Mind is clear and understood by your "Self" then it will be open to let your creative thoughts flourish once again. This book has changed me in ways for the better that are almost indescribable. In fact, I read it three times. I recommend it highly.
Good Luck!!

Try just keeping with you a pencil and paper and eraser, just draw, or doodle, or write down fleeting thoughts, when you feel like it; sooner or later you will come up with an idea you want to work on further

i think exploring different mediums will opens up the way you used to work and think about art. different processes will generate new ideas and get your head thinking in a different way, and thus maybe give you new ideas and get you inspired once again. also definitely keep looking at other people's work in the museums, galleries, shows, and even streets. perhaps going to open studios to talk to other artists, or maybe just talk to different kinds of people in general in different kinds of settings...

in order to get past your creative block is to go see other art work and think about how you would make it different and how you would improve upon it also ask some friends and associates for ideas and get them to commission you to make something around their ideas til you get flowing again make me a computer generated pic i like cats and abstract ideas and thoughts there you have someone to make something special for!

try another "outlet" like exercising (walking on the beach or in a park)... come back refreshed and begin again.
