Sure you can, provided you are in a pressurized spacecraft or space suit. However, sound cannot travel through a vacuum, so you could not hear anything that was not in your spacecraft or spacesuit.

Of course, if you were not in air you could not hear anything, but I doubt you would care about that -- you would have other, much more immediate concerns!!!!

no, sound cannot be heard in outer space.this is due to the reason because sound is carried in the form of waves. when there is no medium for the waves to travel there can be no sound produced. This is the reason why THE BIG BANG didn't produce any noise in outer space.

in space, no one can hear you scream...

sound travels through a medium. one molecule moves the next, which moves the next, until the wave reaches your ear. in space, there is about one molecule (hidrogen in most cases) for every cubic meter, so the molecules are just too far away from each other to touch each other and make a sound wave travel.

So if there cant be air in outer space can there be sound?

you can never hear sound in outer space till u can take a truck filled with air molecules upthere....................even that'll make u hear sound only in that area in which the air molecules exist. i.e. sound travels only when there are air molecules or any type of matter.

of course not. logically speaking, we haven't encountered any.. right? have you heard asteroids bump each other?? scientifically speaking, sound travels through air which space doesn't have any.. when a comet enters our atmosphere, that's the only time we hear them..

Nope you cant....if you were in a shuttle for instance you would...Sound waves need a medium to propagate through, space by definition is void of all possible mediums
