About TIME something like this came out! Maybe now people will stop claiming that Bush has the IQ of a rock!
As far as Peace's answer, if they are referring to the so-called Lovenstein Institute's survey of presidents' IQ's, THOSE are made up. There is no Lovenstein Institute.

Years ago someone (I wish I could remember the source) calculated the approximate IQs of the most successful politicians. Unlike this list all the names were 20th Century politicos. They concluded that the most successful politicians had an IQ of about 119. Since the average is 100, that implies that a politician has to be just a step or two more clever than half the nation to win everything he/she wants. That same article also looked at people with high IQs who ran for office and found that they almost always failed - writers, scientists, engineers, accountants, etc. all losers. It seems that we look for sharks and sharpies who can fool us, and I no longer believe in democracy. I don't know what to replace it with, but as a lawyer once told me, "Democracy is the belief that 51% of the people are right 51% of the time."

I think Dr Morris needs to review the IQ's of past president's. Jimmy Carter's IQ when he was president was above average, it stood at 123. No country in there right mind would choose a presidential candidate with an IQ of 104...there IQ has to be above 120.
One of the USA's finest was Bill Clinton, he just had a weakness which lay in the loins...a great shame.

If only their IQ's were as big as their pockets - it seems that only the rich can afford to enter the political system in the US as it's all about glitz and glamour - for petes sake -'Arnie for president?' - says it all -why bother with the degrees, the education, understanding the issues - get a sound bite expert, an image consultant and a great publicist - thats all you need.
as an addendum - IQ measurement is not an exact science - i have scored 162 on one test and 145 on another - it all depends on the scope, the day, and i know a fantastically intelligent lady, several degrees and PhD to boot who only manages 120 or so!

i'm skirting the situation right here. that is long been widespread via psychologists (the two medical and behavioural) that the assumption of "IQ" is genuinely ineffective, as noone has yet to define intelligence. hence MENSA making various money from people who "think of" they are clever and positioned on club as some variety of badge. besides the indisputable fact that. On given reward, each and each Republican will variety in cognitive ability, in simple terms by way of fact something individuals do. Governments are unusual beasts - they warp into the "hive techniques" (very like solutions!) whilst lots of people occasion - they may well be stable adequate to stand up for their ideals after rational concept, or pass with the sheep physique of techniques and persist with the useful. In that appreciate - enable's inspect Iraq working example - they have lots extra sheep than those prepared to think of for themselves.

Interesting:
Most of these IQs make me feel smarter.
In the case of Clinton & Clinton, the lower the IQ, the higher the trickery, deciect, and lies.
The Clintons have learned how to compensate for having low IQs by using cunning and bulls**t, to fool the masses.

How did they get these figures? I didn't think they had IQ tests in the time of Lincoln and George Washigton.

Those IQ figures are made up.
In fact George W Bush's IQ was recorded as 89 and Bill Clinton's as 183.
(From actual IQ tests at university as opposed to 'estimates')

How close were the USAF to MENSA HQ before they agreed to upgrade GW's original result?
Apologies for a non-serious answer.

couldn't tell you if those numbers are good or bad, however i could easily bet they are false. Anyway I always thought that they are just the front men and other more devious people are running things.
