Given the large size and relatively poor eyesight of elephants, they don't necessarily notice the occasional mouse scurrying around them all that often.
If there's any truth to this legend at all, it likely comes from elephants' being anxious about nearby sounds or movement they can't identify, such as that caused by mice darting around underfoot.
But, if it seems impossible for an elephant to be afraid of a mouse, perhaps we should consider our own often irrational reactions to small, harmless creatures such as spiders, insects, and mice.

I really don't think so, I mean like the thing is huge and it fighters loins and other animales that are way bigger then mice, why sould it be scared of something to small? Any way, the whole mice thing was made up by tv shows...I think

They are not really afraid of mice, but like many animals may spook & react violently to a sudden scurry of movement under their feet, regardless of cause.

I'm afraid of mice my self but elephants are too. but there reason is different.there afraid because Moise can go up there nose a suffocate them. creepy huh.
