The european renaissance, is the rebirth in classical art and literature mainly attributed to the fall of Constantinople which led to many books and other info. sources from the classical period being imported into Western Europe, this made teexts and ideas lost to the west available in many instances for the first time. The southern European ren. centred mainly around Art whereas in Northern Europe the renewed interest was in books. A fact that led to the rise of humanism and created an intellectual atmosphere that allowed the Reformation to occur.

Bobby B said it was the fall of Alexandria. I was taught at school that it was the fall of Constantinople in 1453.
In America the Aztecs were conquering their neighbours and the Incas were in a civil war until the Spanish came and destroyed their civilisations.
