he is in the hospital, they are keeping him comfortable, has anyone experienced this in a family member? How long may he live?

his failure is do to alcohol, he has not been put on a transplant list, one has to be a year sober first, i don't think he will love that long, and if so, he would never stop drinking.

This happened to my aunt. She was a closet alcoholic and we were all shocked when she got sick and the Dr.'s told us she had liver failure. There was nothing they could do for her either but keep her comfortable. She didn't live very long, in fact she died before I could even travel to go see her in the hospital, it was a matter of days. Sorry I don't have a happier story. I'll be hoping your brother has a better outcome.

if you feel the need that he need a transeplant( witch i think he must have) then keep hounding the docter till he kick your As* out the door nuthing get done in hospitals no more unless you hound them my mom was ina nd out of the hospital for a week and i keep tlling the docs that it was her blader but they would not liten to me so after he 5th time she when it i told them again to take a look at her bladder and so they liten to me and they did an ultra sound on her bladder and it truns out that she had a blader infection so if just keep hounding them every time u go in there but don't just go and say give him a transplant go in there and say thing like if he got a liver transplant would he be ok plus what could also be posibal is to cut off the part of the liver thats failing if it's more that 85% of it then he need a transplant i hoped i help a lil bit bless ya don't if u do these thinkg stuff will start geting done in january

It would depend on what is causing the failure - has he not been offered a transplant?
