If life throws a curve that leaves you all alone, then you're lonely... why should you feel that this is a bad thing?

You are human, and all humans need company at times, even the most introverted of us.

Solitary confinement would not be used to punish people if we thrived alone our whole lives long.

Even Crusoe had Friday;-)

Apart from an Asperger Syndrome son, who can't emote and can only make demands, life has left me all alone as well, because of him and his four older sisters' inability to accept he needs me here... I've stayed pretty sane, heartbroken but sane, and found other ways to communicate. Through the Internet the past eight years and I telephone a lot, you should see my bills:-(

I cry now and then, mostly over my son... and the things he does and says... and I pray a lot and do feel guilty at times about feeling sorry for myself now and then... but is it wrong... no. it decidedly is not.. and every now and then, someone lonelier than me needs assistance since God walks them in my path... and for a while, I'm useful once again. Can I help it if He made me an earth mother, gave me six children and vast experience of nurtering and bringing out the best in people? So He keeps my hand in with a little practice now and then... and some skills never die.

So go walk outside and talk to other lonely souls, there are so many nowadays... perhaps you're made to be in this position to appreciate them all and be of service too?

Go see who you can help get through their own lonely day... smile, smile and smile again, because someone out there needs it;-)

God bless you friend:-)

I know what you mean mate. I plough a lonely furrow through life, not through choice, but from who I am and who I meet and how I deal with them. I find that most people do not really want to know and do not trust me for a reason that I do not know about and have not got any control over. Everyone says that I am a nice guy and "should" have more confidence. (As if it is an imperative) I have a genius level IQ, am arty, like books, music, science, cats, have a dry and whimsical SOH and am creative to the max and find that I do not have much in common with most of humanity for those reasons. Those that say we always have choices do not know what they are talking about and I find they have rather a simple and determinist outlook. It all depends on what cards we are dealt in life really, not how we can determine how it will be.

Loneliness is a state of mind. Everyone has a choice in life. Take control of your life, do things, go places, and look at the world as if it were brand new every day. Go places that you would not think of going to. Library, Museum, Ride the Metro, go to the opera, theatre. Try a play, or a ballet.
Try rearranging your living quarters, new furniture, or slip covers, give your self a new make over. New wardrobe, hair style, etc. Enjoy life its there for you, why are you giving up???????
