With only 2 dominan parties, and lots of businessmen with connected cronies (to raise election fund). Don;t you think this kind of democracy is open to manipulation? Certain influential groups could dominate the ruling power to implement their wish list...or else.. Just look at the neo-cons and Jewish lobby power towards American Government.

No. We don't even get to elect our President by popular vote but by some weird system called the Electoral College. This system is able to be abused and manipulated as evidenced by the 2000 election where Bush won although he'd lost the popular vote to Al Gore. It's pitiful when countrys like Iran and Venezuela have more open and honest systems to elect their leaders than the USA.

Many negative comments on your open question. I would have to say that only in America would a American Democracy work. That answer seems rather obvious. Britain has a British Democracy and Canada has a Canadian democracy. Democracy is molded to the countries needs that fit that country.
Is it perfect, no, but as long as Freedom comes with democracy , it is a hell of alot better than other forms of Government. For some to think Iran style of government is good, go talk to a Jew or christian in Iran .

Jewish lobby power is minuscule and it is done by having the head of Israel sitting down with the president on a one to one basis. Lobbying the individual senators and congressmen is not necessary because 98% of them are already on the side of Israel. As for general lobbying, it should be stopped by all concerned including the small amount done by the Israelis. No money from lobbies for airplane rides, trips to resorts, etc., etc. Don't you think this happens in other nations with different type governments? You can trace lobbying back through history to the Romans and Greeks.

Democracy doesn't work because of money which most people don't have just to spend on running.Therefore 98% of the population that may be qualified to run the country can't run due to the fact they don't have the money to run. It's a shame.
