It the window opens at the top, they only buzz around the bottom half - if it opens at the bottom, they buzz around the top! It's really annoying!

Flies and wasps have an inbuilt instinct to fly towards the light. They will make a 'bee line' for the nearest bright light, a window or lamp. You can deal with unwanted flies in your house, especially in your kitchen, by installing an ultra violet light fly killer lamp. We see this as blue light. The fly sees it as daylight and heads towards it....zzzzfut...end of fly. Not sure how much these cost but you often see them in food stores and sometimes at your local corner shop. Otherwise it's the old rolled up newspaper and the sudden death.
Flies, wasps and bees have multi faceted eyes and can see multi images. A flies eye can distinguish between light and dark in an instant. You can see the result of this when you move anywhere near a fly. The amount of light hitting its eyes is reduced - this equals danger and the fly takes off.
Bees and wasps have excellent vision. A bee distinguishes colours so that if today is blue flower day, it can easily find blue flowers.
A wasp is very much the same. Wasps can be kept away from your picnic by simply putting out a jar or two of water with jam or honey stired in. The wasps go into this and drown.
Murder most horrid.
